Back of the Book
Each month for National Geographic, I design the back-of-the-book. Since starting this task 18 months ago, we have added new sections, reduced page count, and added a crossword puzzle. Here is a selection of months showing how the designs have developed. Click on thumbnails to view.

The Graphic Imperative
Poster promoting a traveling exhibit, The Graphic Imperative, which visited U of M in 2009. I explored the posters-plastered-on-kiosks meme in my senior thesis, and extended my experiments to this poster-on-a-poster. The goal was to connect international social design to students’ everyday experience in Ann Arbor.

Guide to Blue Activism
I designed and wrote The Michigan Independent’s Guide to Blue Activism for my senior thesis at the University of Michigan’s School of Art & Design. The book was written in collaboration with staff members of The Michigan Independent, a progressive monthly campus newspaper. The book was self-published and can be purchased at LuLu.com.

86: The Senior Show Promotional Posters
Collaborative project to promote a show featuring work from 86 students presented to the public at three separate events in May 2007. The team worked together to create the logo and choose colors, but these three compositions are my own.

The Michigan Independent
I helped to start The Michigan Independent, a student-run, progressive monthly newspaper. As the first design director, I designed the nameplate, folio, grid and layout. I also selected and art directed a cover artist each month. I produced the newspaper for a year and half before passing it along to new designers.
